Gabriel Batistuta and Francesco Totti led AS Roma to a 2-1 defeat of ten man Udinese on Sunday in a result which took Fabio Capello's side six points clear at the top of the Italian first division. Roma's arch rivals and defending champions Lazio finally hit form to win 4-1 at Vicenza. Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved scored twice for Sven Goran Eriksson's side while South American strikers Hernan Crespo and Marcelo Salas grabbed a goal apiece. Lazio now face Roma in next weekend's derby. Juventus edged Parma 1-0 in Turin thanks to a rare goal from centreback Ciro Ferrara while Andriy Shevchenko scored a brace as AC Milan extended their winning run to four matches in league and cup by crushing Lecce 4-1 at the San Siro. Batistuta's former paymasters Fiorentina beat Inter Milan 2-0 in a late match to move above the struggling Milan giants into ninth position. Fabio Pecchia earned Napoli a 1-1 draw with a 58th-minute equaliser at fellow strugglers Brescia on Saturday. Also on saturday, Reggina, playing at Catania after they were banned from playing at home following crowd trouble scrapped to a 1-1 draw with Verona.
